Hedge calculator
Enter your bet and the odds on the other side to see the hedge stake that gives about the same result either way, before voids, limits and fees. It also works for bonus bets, the last leg of a parlay and cash-out offers, and it is arithmetic, not a tip to bet.

A cash bet you already placed. If it wins, your stake comes back with the winnings.
A $214.29 hedge leaves you about -$14.29 either way, before voids, limits and fees.
Assumes your stake comes back if your bet wins, both bets are accepted in full at these prices and they settle on the same result. Amounts are rounded to cents; fees are excluded.
| Outcome | No hedge | Equal-result hedge$214.29 on the other side |
|---|---|---|
| If your bet wins | $200.00 | -$14.29 |
| If the other side wins | -$100.00 | -$14.28 |
What the hedge gives up. Compared with no hedge, you finish $214.29 lower if your bet wins and $85.72 higher if the other side wins.
At these prices both results are below $0: the hedge costs more than it saves. It would break even if the other side paid 1.50 (-200) or more.
A hedge gives about the same result either way only before voids, limits and fees. Bonus bets are not cash. You need to be 21 or older in most states and located where the sportsbook is licensed. See responsible gaming if betting stops feeling like a choice.
Tools use the numbers you enter. They do not check live terms, eligibility, limits, account balances or whether a quote is still available. Legal betting age and eligible locations only. Bonus rewards are not cash. Terms apply; gambling involves risk of loss.
How does a hedge calculator work?
A hedge is a second bet on the other side of the same market. The calculator finds the hedge stake that makes your two possible results match, using decimal odds (+200 is 3.00, -250 is 1.40). For a cash bet you already placed, the hedge stake is your stake × your odds ÷ the other side's odds. If your bet wins, you keep its winnings minus the hedge stake. If the other side wins, you keep the hedge's profit minus your original stake.
The other modes change one step. A bonus bet pays only its winnings and its stake is not returned, so the hedge stake is the bonus amount × (bonus odds − 1) ÷ the other side's odds, and losing the bonus bet costs you no cash. For the last leg of a parlay, the hedge stake is the potential payout ÷ the other side's odds. For a cash-out offer, the calculator shows what the hedge leaves you with either way next to what the offer would pay.
A hedge narrows your results. It does not improve the odds or remove risk: you give up the biggest win and the biggest loss, and you pay the sportsbook's margin on the other side. At the prices you got when you bet, a cash bet hedge usually ends below $0 either way, which is why the calculator shows the break-even price. Results are about the same either way only before voids, limits and fees. A rejected or partly accepted bet, a price move or a push can leave one side uncovered. How bonus bets work covers each sportsbook's bonus bet rules.

Frequently asked questions
What is a hedge betting calculator?
A hedge betting calculator works out how much to bet on the opposite outcome so your two possible results land close together. Enter your stake, your odds and the price on the other side, and it shows the hedge stake and what you end with if either side wins. It is arithmetic on the numbers you type, not a tip to bet.
How do I hedge the last leg of a parlay?
Choose Parlay last leg, then enter your stake, the potential payout your bet slip shows (stake included) and the odds on the other side of the last leg. The hedge stake is the payout divided by those decimal odds: a $300 payout hedged at 1.40 needs $214.29. This assumes every earlier leg has already won, and a voided or pushed leg changes the payout.
Is hedging better than taking a cash-out offer?
Neither is better in general. Choose Cash-out offer and the calculator puts the two amounts side by side. The hedge depends on the other-side price you can actually get, and a cash-out amount moves with the game and is not offered on every bet, so recheck both right before you act.
How do I hedge a bonus bet?
Choose Bonus bet. A bonus bet pays only its winnings and the stake is not returned, so a loss costs no cash and the hedge can leave a result above $0. A $100 bonus bet at +200 hedged at -250 needs $142.86 and leaves about $57.14 either way, before voids, limits and fees. A bonus bet is not cash. The free bet calculator covers one bonus bet in more detail.
Why does my hedge end below zero?
On a cash bet, the hedge pays the sportsbook's margin on the other side. At the prices you got when you bet, $100 at +200 hedged at -250 ends about $14 down either way. A hedge ends at $0 or better only when the other side pays at least the break-even price shown in the results.
Does a hedge remove the risk?
No. It narrows your results. A rejected or partly accepted bet, a price move, a void, a push or a limit can leave the two sides unmatched, and fees can change what you keep. Recheck both prices right before you bet.
