Standard series charge makers nothing. Maker fees apply only on series Kalshi's fee schedule lists with a maker multiplier; the order ticket shows which.
Taker fee: round up(1 × 0.07 × 100 × 0.50 × 0.50) = $1.75. Estimate from the published fee schedules, for one order held to settlement; selling early is a second trade with its own fee.

How is the Kalshi fee calculated?
Kalshi charges a trading fee when your order fills right away against an order already on the book, called a taker order. The fee schedule effective July 7, 2026 sets it at 0.07 × contracts × price × (1 − price), with the price in dollars, times a multiplier for the series, then rounded up; the schedule's table shows whole cents. On 100 contracts at 50 cents that is 0.07 × 100 × 0.50 × 0.50 = $1.75. The fee is largest near 50 cents and shrinks toward 1 and 99 cents.
An order that rests on the book until someone else fills it, called a maker order, pays 0.0175 × contracts × price × (1 − price), but only on series that Kalshi's Non-Standard Fees table lists with a maker multiplier. Everywhere else a maker order pays nothing. Combo markets (KXMVE, except uncorrelated NFL combos) use a taker multiplier of 2, so the taker fee doubles, and a few series are listed with no trading fees at all.
Polymarket US charges takers 0.0695 × contracts × price × (1 − price) rounded to the nearest cent with exact halves going to the even cent. Until 1 PM ET on October 19, 2026 it pays maker orders a rebate of 0.0125 × the same; after that, only accounts with $10 million or more of maker volume in the prior month earn one, so the calculator shows no rebate from then. Robinhood charges a commission of 10% × price × (1 − price) × contracts, or 5% with Robinhood Gold, rounded up and capped at 1 cent per contract, plus a Kalshi exchange fee of 1 cent per contract.
Each contract pays $1 if you are right and nothing if you are wrong. So the payout is $1 × contracts, the loss if wrong is everything you paid, and the break-even probability is total cost ÷ payout. Signup and referral credits are not cash, and this calculator treats every dollar as your own money. Trading can lose your whole stake.
Frequently asked questions
How much is the Kalshi fee on 100 contracts?
For a taker order on a standard series, Kalshi's fee table lists $0.07 at 1 or 99 cents, $0.63 at 10 or 90 cents, $1.47 at 30 or 70 cents and $1.75 at 50 cents. Combos use a multiplier of 2, so their taker fee is about double. A resting maker order pays about a quarter of the taker fee, and only on series listed with maker fees.
Do Kalshi maker orders pay a fee?
Only on some series. The maker fee is 0.0175 × contracts × price × (1 − price), and its multiplier is 0 unless the fee schedule lists the series with a maker multiplier. Many sports and economics series, such as KXFED and KXNBA, are listed that way. Canceling a resting order costs nothing.
What is the Kalshi payout on a winning contract?
Each winning contract pays $1 and each losing contract pays nothing. Kalshi charges no settlement fee, so if you hold to settlement your net is $1 × contracts minus the price and the trading fee. Selling before settlement is a second trade with its own fee.
How do Polymarket US fees compare with Kalshi fees?
They are close for takers. On 1,000 contracts at 50 cents, the Polymarket US fee page shows a $17.38 taker fee, against $17.50 from Kalshi's formula. At 10 cents it shows $6.26, against $6.30 on Kalshi. Until 1 PM ET on October 19, 2026, Polymarket US also pays maker orders a rebate, $3.12 on 1,000 contracts at 50 cents; after that, only makers with $10 million or more of monthly maker volume get one.
Does Robinhood Gold lower prediction market fees?
Only below 28 cents or above 72 cents, because Robinhood caps its commission at 1 cent per contract. On 100 contracts at 10 cents the commission is $0.90 without Gold and $0.45 with it, plus a $1.00 Kalshi exchange fee either way.
Why can the fee in the app differ by a cent?
Kalshi's schedule rounds the fee up so that fee plus cost lands on a hundredth of a cent ($0.0001). Accounts held directly with Kalshi are charged at that precision, while accounts held through a broker settle in whole cents. This calculator follows the schedule's whole-cent table, so on a small order it can show up to a cent more than a direct account pays. The order ticket shows the exact fee.
